At Harbor of Grace, our mission is simple: to share God’s love by meeting a basic human need—warmth.
Through the gift of sleeping bags and other items, we seek to offer not only comfort but also dignity, hope, and a gentle reminder that no one is forgotten.
Harbor of Grace was born out of a desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who feel unseen. Inspired by His life—how He walked among the poor, touched the untouchable, and loved without condition—we long to carry that same love into the streets.
We believe that every sleeping bag is more than just warmth—it is a message of hope. Each one carries the words: “You are not alone. You are loved. You matter.” Our vision is to create moments where God’s presence can be felt in the most unexpected places, through simple acts of compassion.
Angela Walton
Angela started Harbor of Grace in the Summer of 2025, after many encounters with those misplaced, struggling, and hurting. This ministry was born from a simple desire: to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who feel forgotten. Angela is inspired by HIS life—how Jesus walked among the poor, touched the untouchable, and loved without condition.
She believes that every donation given is more than a gift; it’s a message of hope. It says, “You are not alone. You are loved. You matter.”
Angela continues to be moved by the stories she hears, the eyes she meets, and the quiet moments where God’s presence is felt in the most unexpected places.

This ministry is rooted in the words of Jesus:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
Every bag shared, every prayer whispered, and every hug offered is done for Him. We believe in the quiet power of love that meets people where they are, reminding them that hope is never out of reach.
At Harbor of Grace, everything we do flows from these four values:
We love because He first loved us. Every sleeping bag given is more than just warmth-It’s a reminder that Jesus sees and cares, even in the coldest nights.
Every person matters. We don’t just see “the homeless”— We see individuals with names, stories, and souls deeply valued by God.
Faith shows up. Rain or shine, we go because Jesus never stops showing up for us. Our love is lived out through prayers, hugs, listening ears, and gifts of warmth.
Prayer leads our steps. From packing to walking to speaking, we seek God’s guidance and trust Him to lead us to the right people at the right time.
Why I Started Harbor of Grace Sleeping Bag Outreach
By Angela Walton
I was just a little girl when I first saw what true generosity looked like. My grandmother, Beulah
Avery didn’t have much—but what she had, she gave. I remember her slipping a folded bill into
someone’s hand with what we called the Pentecostal handshake—a quiet, sacred act of giving. It
wasn’t about the show. It was about faith. About love. About believing that even when you give your last
dime, God will provide.
And He did. Every time.
We’d get back in the car, and she’d look over at me with peace in her eyes and say, “God has me. He
will provide.” I never saw her worry. I never saw her hesitate. She gave with open hands and a full
heart. She was a humble soul, and I was her shadow—her “right-hand hip attachment,” always by her
side, soaking in every moment of church, every act of kindness, every whispered prayer.
She called me “Susie” (as that is the nickname I have ben all my life by my daddy), and one day she
looked me in the eyes after I had taken her to lunch and a thrift store, as that was her favorite place
other than an old-fashioned tent revival, and said something I’ll never forget:
“You have a heart to give, to love, to show mercy. Do not ever lose that. As cruel as the world may
get, don’t you ever lose that.”
That moment planted a seed in me. A calling. A fire. (If I could only tell her of this story)
Harbor of Grace Sleeping Bag Outreach was born from that legacy. It’s not just about sleeping
bags—it’s about dignity. It’s about showing someone cold, forgotten, or hurting that, for one
night, Grace and Hope can meet. That someone sees them. That someone cares.
My mission is to carry this ministry as far as the east is from the west. And if our paths cross—even
just for a moment—I will share His love. I will wrap someone in warmth, not just of fabric, but of
faith. I will remind them that they are not invisible. That they are loved. That mercy still lives in this
world. This is my heart. This is my purpose. And it all began with a woman who gave everything she had,
believing that God would always make a way.
